Fundraiser For Estelle: Rock the Vote with Ishi Dube & Lion Camp

Election fever is in full swing and it's never been more important to get involved so we decided to throw a bash to celebrate and "Rock the Vote." Come join Ishi Dube & Lion Camp, The Free Agents, DJ State of Mind, and NPK on Saturday October 11th at So-Hum's newest hot spot, Toph's House in Benbow.

"I love reggae music with all of my soul", says Ishi Dube who is one of reggaes rising stars. A seasoned musician, Ishi is becoming more and more widely recognized in the world of reggae music as a skilled songwriter and vocalist with a powerful and beautiful voice. His unique style skillfully moves from roots to lover's rock, from DJ/singjay to Dancehall, and back to roots with lyrics that are intelligent and positive. Ishi Dubes' music embodies genuine roots with a newer dancehall edge that will appeal to reggae massive everywhere.

N.P.K. (an acronym that represents elements of growth) plays a diverse mixture of fresh original songs flavored with the driving, funky style known as West Coast Rock. Our music is an attempt to create original art that expresses our culture and ourselves. The core three; Gregg Gratzel on trap set, Tao Ryce on bass, and Tanner Speas on vocals and guitar, started playing together in their teens and about a year and a half ago formed N.P.K. The trio has since expanded to a sextet incorporating three more players; Dave on saxophone, Peter on trumpet and Lygle on hand percussion, making for a more full and dynamic sound.

This evening of great music will also feature sneak previews of Michael Moore's new film, Slacker Uprising. "This is being done entirely as a gift to my fans. The only return any of us are hoping for is the largest turnout of young voters ever at the polls in November." - Michael Moore

Gourmet food from Amillias, Flavors, and Cafe Minou, beer, and wine will be available plus a very special guest, our very own candidate for second district supervisor, Estelle Fennell.
