A Message from Estelle
"Thank You!!"
I'd like to extend my deepest gratitude to all who supported me in this historic run for office. Though we did not achieve our goal to elect me to serve as your representative we made a very strong showing and we can certainly hold our heads high regarding the tone and direction of the campaign. I am extremely proud to say that we stuck to the issues of importance to the 2nd District and never stooped to fear-based or negative campaigning. In the long run it is my greatest hope that the voices of citizens from all segments of the district will be heard at the county level and that the issues we brought forth in this campaign will be addressed in a timely manner.
Ours was truly a grass-roots campaign and as such involved numerous people stepping up to the plate over and over again, some going well beyond "the call of duty".
I owe a huge debt of gratitude to those who shared their talents and energy and did so, enthusiastically, over and over again. Those unions, associations, businesses and individuals who endorsed me and contributed to my campaign also have my undying gratitude. Our volunteers came from throughout the district, Shelter Cove to Blocksburg, Rio Dell to Island Mountain, Fortuna to Benbow and everywhere in between.
We earned the respect of everyday citizens, media professionals and seasoned politicians alike. We formed friendships that will last long past this election. Our community spoke clearly and we formed a foundation that we can build on into the future.
Going door-to-door throughout the district, I met some of the most interesting and thoughtful people I've ever met. People shared their stories and challenges and made it possible for me to speak with authority when discussing and debating what I know to be the issues of most concern to district residents.
You made me prouder than ever to be a citizen of the 2nd District and to represent our unique and independent nature.
Thanks to the thousands who voted for me and to the many who supported me in all the ways it takes to run a strong campaign. Thanks to those, young and not-so-young who voted for the first time or the first time in a long time. I encourage you to stay involved and to continue to make your voices heard.
Ever since Election Day I have been asked by numerous district residents to run again next time. Now that we have firmed up our foundation I am not ruling it out but it's too soon to make that commitment. One commitment I will make is to stay involved in this community that I love so much.
Yours truly,
Estelle Fennell

Honesty - Integrity - A Strong Voice for All
Over the past 2 decades my work as a local News Director and community broadcaster has given me a true understanding of almost every aspect of what it means to live and work in the 2nd district. When it comes to County Government, I know the programs that affect the 2nd district and I know the needs and concerns of 2nd district citizens. As Supervisor I will work hard to make sure those needs are met.
I believe that if we want to see a sustainable future for our district we must take bold action to diversify our economy. Even as we work to stabilize our resource-based jobs, we must encourage innovative entrepreneurs and provide the kind of high tech infrastructure that will allow our kids to remain here, earn a good living and raise their families in this unique and beautiful part of the world.
In order to attract and retain good employees at our businesses, schools, public agencies and hospitals we must work to ensure a good quality of life within our communities. That means everything from housing to good roads, reliable law enforcement, fire protection and access to good health care.
It's Time for a Positive Change in the 2nd district.
As Supervisor I want to encourage an open and inclusive approach to decision making. As we forge our plans for the future at the county level I will insist that we include all perspectives, respect the views of those with experience, be open to fresh ideas, be solution oriented and work hard to implement solutions that will benefit everybody.
I pledge to be a Supervisor the citizens of 2nd district can count on to work hard, be respectful of her colleagues, work with and guide county staff, work to restore trust between district citizens and County Government and help ensure the 2nd district plays an equal role in the economic future of Humboldt County.
